About San José Conference on teaching profession

Todays conference in San Jose, Costa Rica brought together representatives from a variety of organizations, all with a vested interest in improving the teaching profession.
 
PREAL Workshops on Teacher Policy in Central America

On March 13–15, PREAL will hold the first two of eight workshops planned for 2012 on teacher policy in Central America and Dominican Republic.
 
Building Effective School Leadership

PREAL is sending five Central American school principals to Toronto, Canada for a two-week study tour on effective school leadership. Participants will be exposed to the approaches that Canadian schools have used to develop strong leaders and managers at the school level. They will participate in analytical workshops, guided tours and fieldwork designed to understand the Canadian experience and reflect on how that experience might be applied to their own countries.
 
Quality is the Challenge: A Report Card on Education in the Dominican Republic 2010

Action for Education (EDUCA), PLAN Dominican Republic, and PREAL released the second education report card on the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo on November 9. The launch featured an address by PREAL Co-director Jeffrey Puryear and attracted over 80 participants.
 
United for Education Holds International Forum in Panama

PREAL co-director Marcela Gajardo joined leaders from throughout Latin America to promote sound education policy at the United for Education Forum in Panama last week. The event, which was organized in partnership with PREAL, attracted more than 250 participants, including Minister of Education Lucy Molinar and other government leaders, school administrators, teachers, academics, representatives of NGOs, business leaders, and journalists.

On August 30, PREAL co-director Jeffrey Puryear spoke at the III Forum on Education Quality in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Forum was organized by Proyecto EDUCAR 2050, a group of civil society leaders seeking to improve education in the country
