Central America Program
The Central America Program supports and strengthens civil society organizations working to improve the coverage, quality, equity, and efficiency of education systems in Central America.
The Central America Program focuses particularly on promoting informed dialogue on policy options for educational reform. The program also seeks to establish common ground between actors to push forward changes in education, identify best practices and communicate information to decision makers, managers, and others interested in developing better education policies. Along these lines, PREAL works with a network of national counterparts to:
- Disseminate ideas and policy options, through PREAL publications;
- Document best practices;
- Organize workshops and public dialogues on national education policy;
- Monitor and evaluate educational progress through national report cards and other studies;
- Organize study tours to promote the exchange of ideas and cross national policy approaches among different countries; and
- Hold international seminars and workshops that analyze current and emerging education policies and international best practices for education reform.
The Central America Program relies on the support of the Central American Coordinating Committee, a group of distinguished Central American experts, who plan, advise, and follow up on annual activities in the region, in coordination with the various PREAL programs.
